What is the ENES?
The ENES is a collaborative network that gathers industries, along with ECHA and national authorities, to identify and promote good practices on preparing and implementing exposure scenarios and on developing an effective communication exchange between supply chain actors. It ultimately aims at improving the protection of human health and the environment.
New tools developed
From development to execution, most of the following tools will be ready by 2016 to ensure that the 2018 registration deadline is met:
- Improved sector use maps ready to be launched by the end of the year. The final template will be aligned with an updated guidance on use description and IUCLID (International Uniform Chemical Information Database) REACH data submission tool. Exposure assessment input data sets for human health and the environment via sector-specific worker exposure descriptions (SWEDs), specific consumer exposure determinants (SCEDs) and specific environmental exposure categories (SpERCS) will also be improved.
- Updated version of ECHA’s chemical safety assessment and reporting tool (Chesar 3), which will include new functionalities destined to support SpERCS.
- New template for SWEDs with various sectors involved such as adhesives, coatings, construction chemicals, detergents and solvents.
- New SCED factsheets published by the petroleum stream, detergents and aerosol trade groups for their respective sectors, while adhesives, coatings, and construction chemical groups are still developing them.
- New tools for formulators and users of mixtures, including the Lead Component Identification Method (LCID) and Risk Management Measures (RMMS) expected by the end of 2015.
- Newly developed Safe Use for Mixtures Information (SUMIs), with expected guidelines from the Downstream Users of Chemical Co-ordination Group (DUCC) sector association by the end of 2015.
