Definition

The Safety Data Sheet is the tool carrying all the relevant information concerning the manufacturer, importer, or downstream user’s chemical safety along the supply chain.

The use of hazardous substances and mixtures makes it mandatory for companies to have Safety Data Sheets (SDS).

SDSs are the main communication vehicles within the supply chain. With REACH, their format and content are evolving. As a consequence, the SDS is the competent authorities’ favorite target in the event of a control.

The new extended SDS (also known as e-SDS) is now part of risk management measures and exposure scenarios.
